Opening

Hello and welcome to The Observatory. There’s not much up right now because… well, because I just opened. I’m also not really sure what will be up later because this is my first blog and, let’s face it, I have no idea what I’m doing. What I can tell you is what I think this blog is going to be about, and to do that I’m going to start another paragraph.

Alright, so, The Observatory. The answer’s in the title really. This blog is about observations – ones on life, culture, media, whatever. I may do an analysis of a movie I just saw, then post the chronological history of the flashlight, then discuss the lowered quality of children’s television programming in this day and age. I can talk philosophy, or I can talk about the translating reasons for why a character in a Japanese comic book has her name spelled three different ways throughout the series. I’ll probably post writing exercises and the like here as well, since that is what I want to do with my life other than study animals and speak Japanese. Perhaps in the future the scope will narrow or broaden, but for now it is what it is. Hopefully what it is is good. And if not, then hopefully what it is will become good. (One can always hope, at least.)

Today’s blog entry is brought to you by Sand. It’s everywhere. Get used to it.
